The Signal: On June 2, OpenAI launched Sites, which lets Codex turn a plain English description into a live, hosted, shareable app with no code. The same day, Microsoft shipped its own coding model, MAI-Code-1-Flash, that beats Claude Haiku on price-to-performance and drops straight into GitHub Copilot's free tier. Google is racing in too. Translation. Building software went near-free this week. The thing you kept saying you would do "once you found a developer" no longer needs one.

The client dashboard you sketched on a napkin and never built.
For a year, the same sentence killed it.
"I need a developer for that."
That sentence stopped being true this week.
What Actually Shipped
Three things stacked on the same forty-eight hours.
One. OpenAI launched Sites. You describe what you want in words. Codex builds it, compiles it, and hosts it on a live URL you can send to anyone. Dashboards, planners, quizzes, small custom tools. It is built specifically for people who do not write code.
Two. Codex now has more than five million weekly users. The fastest growing slice is not engineers. It is marketers, operators, and analysts who have never opened a code editor. That group is growing three times faster than the developers.
Three. Microsoft shipped MAI-Code-1-Flash, a coding model that undercuts the cheap models on price and lands in Copilot's free tier. The cost of generating software is in freefall, and every major lab is pushing it down at once.
Read those three again.
The capability went up. The skill required went down. The price went toward zero. All in one week.
Here Is The Uncomfortable Truth
For most coaches, "I need a developer" was never really about the developer.
It was a permission slip.
A clean, respectable reason to not build the thing. To stay in the safe loop of posting and waiting. Because building meant deciding. And deciding meant being wrong in public.
The cost was never the bottleneck.
The clarity was.
And now that the cost is gone, the only thing standing between you and a tool nobody else in your niche has... is knowing exactly what it should do.

Look at where the work used to sit, and where it sits now.

Find. Brief. Wait. Pay.
Hunt for a developer. Write a spec. Wait three weeks. Pay four figures. Get something close to what you meant. Then wait again for every small change. The tool was so expensive you only built the safe, obvious one.The new build

What To Build This Week
Do not build five things. Build one.
The right one is almost always a tool that does the qualifying for you, so your calls get easier and your bad-fit leads filter themselves out.
One. The diagnostic. A short scored quiz that tells a prospect exactly where they are stuck and names the gap in your language. They get clarity. You get a warm, self-qualified lead who already trusts your frame.
Two. The cost-of-inaction calculator. They plug in their numbers. It shows them what the current leak is costing them every month. Nothing sells the next step like a person doing their own math.
Three. The client dashboard. A simple shared page where your current clients see their plan, their wins, and their next step. It makes your program feel like a system, not a series of calls.
Pick the one that matches the pain you hear most on your calls.
Describe it in a paragraph. Ship it this week. Edit it live as real people use it.
The Inner Work Underneath It
Watch what happens in your body when you read this.
If there is a tightening... a "yeah but I wouldn't even know where to start"... that is not a skills gap.
That is the old permission slip trying to renew itself.
The excuse changed costume. It used to wear "I need a developer." Now it wears "I need to learn the tool first" or "mine wouldn't be as good as the pros."
Same fear. New outfit.
The move is not to learn more. It is to get specific about one client and let the tool be ugly on the first pass.
Built and ugly beats perfect and imagined. Every single time.
